In my career as a coach, I’ve discovered a toxic troika of ideas that have staying power and your worst interests at heart:

1. You can’t balance your current life — including the job you have, the family obligations you shoulder, the extracurriculars you dabble in — with the full expression of your creative genius.

2. You can’t lead the life of adventure that, down in the marrow of your soul, you damn well know you were born to lead.

3. You’re simply not important enough to have a legacy of your own, let alone create it on purpose.

The good news is, they’re all lies. Since I take such great pleasure in rejecting them, we’re in for a fun ride. Let’s roll!
