When DC Aikido Martial Arts owner Michael Veltri opened his studio in 2000, his #1 objective was to improve his own skills as a martial artist. Yet his students kept telling him how they were using the lessons of aikido—harnessing forces capable of great destruction to thwart violence—outside the studio, often in positions of global influence. Now, in the interest of sharing the nonviolent principles of aikido with the entire world, Michael is gearing up to teach people who may never set foot on the mat.
